To kick it off, the brand will launch a photography workshop on August 24
Isn’t the realme 12 series just a month old when it was released globally? Apparently, realme doesn’t think so, and instead, wants you to focus on its upcoming 13th-generation device. Best part? The two Pro phones (13 Pro and 13 Pro Plus) are merely SIDEGRADES! This means you can keep your realme 12 (and even your realme 11 Pro and Pro+) for a longer time. Plus, companies are already promising longer update periods, so upgrading to the next line is less of a necessity. However, for those who don’t own a realme device yet and they have the budget to afford either two phones, then you’re in luck.
Also, as always, the agenda stands in AI. The term has since become meaningless as almost every tech company mentions it. Most of Google I/O this year, for example, mentioned the acronym 90% of the time. Can’t proceed to the next slide without mentioning it once. Some “noteworthy” AI features are AI Audio Zoom which uses an algorithm so you don’t sound like you’re communicating on a 90s walkie-talkie whenever you use a video conferencing app, Group Photo Enhance, AI Smart Removal, a tool that removes unwanted objects in your image, and AI Ultra Clarity, the main feature. It is a post-processing-like feature of the realme 13 Pro series, which automatically scales without killing the resolution of the original image.
realme 13 Pro
The realme 13 Pro uses a 6.67″ 120Hz curved OLED display, as visibly seen in the product demos. Its design is inspired from Monet masterpieces. One of them even features a vegan leather casing.
Just like the previous two phones, the realme 13 Pro series feature a rounded camera island which houses the LED flash and the other three important cameras. According to many of realme’s ads, the phone shoots “better than a DSLR”. We find this hard to believe. Although the phone does have a competent primary camera (it’s a Sony LYT-600 after all), this tagline is exaggerated. If the realme 13 Pro series is indeed better at photography than a DSLR, it should be able to smoke phones such as the Xiaomi 14, Vivo X100 Pro, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, or maybe even the brand’s realme GT6. A midrange phone, such as the realme 13 Pro, simply cannot do that. This is one of those times we disagreed with a brand’s marketing campaign. Again, everything is an algorithm here, even the portrait shots.
Aside from this 50MP camera, the realme 13 Pro also features an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro. This replaces the telephoto previously found on the 12 Pro. Which, when you think about it, is such a massive downgrade. In addition, the front camera is the same as the previous phone, a 32MP sensor. The realme 13 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset with 8/12GB LPDDR4X RAM and a choice between 128/256/512GB UFS 3.1 storage solutions. On the bright side, at least its performance on paper looks decent. We haven’t factored in software and hardware optimizations yet.
Finally, the realme 13 Pro comes with a 5200mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC fast charging from OPPO. 5G is obviously included. The phone is resistant to rain drops thanks to its IP65 rating. It comes in three colours: Monet Gold, Monet Purple, and its unique color element, Emerald Green with a vegan leather back (the other two feature a plastic casing).
As it has not launched yet, realme Philippines did not reveal the price. However, knowing the brand, it’s going to be more expensive than the last, and at times, unjustifiable.

realme 13 Pro Plus
In terms of its design, the realme 13 Pro Plus poses no difference from the 13 Pro. In fact, it’s the same phone, but the cameras are much better, as expected from a Plus line. The charging rate was also increased from 45W to 80W. However, the differences between the 13 Pro Plus and the 12 Pro Plus are so minimal that, if you own the 12 Pro Plus, or even the 11 Pro Plus, it’s best you keep it. If you neither own any of these, it’s best to start here as it is newer and you’re guaranteed to get longer updates.
The 13 Pro Plus features a more powerful 50MP Camera, a Sony Lytia LYT-701. Just like the LYT-600, this sensor also has OIS. In addition, the telephoto camera makes a comeback here. It’s the same primary camera from the 13 Pro, a 50MP Sony Lytia LYT-600. The 8MP ultrawide remains intact.
There is no pricing available yet. The phone comes in the three exact same colours as the 13 Pro. These are Monet Gold, Monet Purple, and Emerald Green.
