ICYMI: The realme C65 is a “Budget Samsung Galaxy” Launched in the Philippines

That design looks familiar, yet polished.

This is the realme C65, a budget phone that differs from how the brand would design its smartphones. It’s much more linear and simpler, and the back reminds us a lot of the Galaxy S21. So, if you loved that design so much, but don’t have the money to purchase it, you can always get this.

There are three main features here. The first is the so-called “4 years of lag-free use”. Tread carefully on the website because you will find a disclaimer. Underneath, there is a text reading ’48-month Fluency’ “means that realme C65 has been certified as A-class smoothness by Süd Lab through a combination of software, hardware and other technical optimizations; 48 months of smooth use is not the same as absolutely no lag, and actual experience may vary due to different factors such as network environment and personal usage habits”. This text is to prevent users from expecting too much about the device, as it is certainly not a flagship phone wherein, they can survive for this long without significant performance dips.

The other feature is the 45W fast charging and 5000mAh battery. That’s way more than what Samsung or even Apple provides to their flagship phones. It seems like this is the standard for realme, but some phones can have a rate as low as 33W.

The phone features a “powerful” MediaTek Helio G85 chipset with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM. That is why that disclaimer we discussed earlier is necessary. This chipset, while powerful for budget phones, is getting old and has since been replaced with the Helio G88 and G91. On the other hand, due to its age, MediaTek has perfectly optimized it already, which is why still many brands use it over the newer ones, to ensure smooth performance and operation. The last MediaTek Helio G85 we tested passed the thermal throttling test, and that was the Oppo A58 4G.

It features a 6.67″ HD+ (1604x720px) IPS LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate. Nothing out of the ordinary here, though the lower resolution might tick some users off. The so-called “Eye Comfort” label is because the phone is TUV SUD-certified.

The realme C65 is available now in third-party retailers, realme’s concept stores, as well as in Lazada and Shopee, for an affordable PHP 9,999 (8/256). You can get the phone in Starlight Purple and Starlight Black
