HEADS UP! The Oppo Reno 12 will Launch July 12!

AI AI AI

Oppo is launching the Reno 12 globally on July 12 and since we got the press release, it means the Philippines is included too. The Reno 11 just launched a few months ago by the way.

Like almost every tech company you can think of, Oppo is leaning towards AI for the Reno 12 and has content creators showing off various features including AI Eraser 2.0 which can now handle background human subjects better. Generative AI tools such as AI Studio, a built-in app, turns your favourite portraits into stunning avatars.

Some of these AI features were actually carryovers from the Reno11 series. Some of these include Smart Lasso and Paint Over. Expect more AI tools coming your way.

The global version of the Reno 12 is actually downgraded from the native Mainland version. Instead of the Dimensity 8300, we’re getting a modified version of the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 called “Energy”. The name refers to how the chipset is designed to be energy efficient. We’re wishing this isn’t some sort of underclocked Dimensity 7300 under the guise of calling it “energy efficient”. It already has reduced performance from the Chinese version.

The design of the Reno12, according to Oppo, is based on a spacecraft theme and features a metallic backplate. Three colours have been confirmed. These are Astro Silver, Sunset Pink, and Matte Brown.

Our press release also mentions of the Reno12 Pro which is the exact same phone but instead of a macro camera, it uses a more useful 50MP telephoto instead. In case you were wondering, both phones use the same chipset and camera arrays. Particularly, a 50MP Primary camera and 8MP ultrawide. The Reno12 uses the classic 32MP selfie seen on every Reno device since the Reno7 while the Reno12 Pro uses a more powerful 50MP sensor.

The LinkBoost tagline refers to a proprietary tech Oppo developed so that you reconnect to the next fastest network in case you’re in an area where there is a weak signal, such as inside elevators. A related technology “BeaconLink” allows you to do voice calls even if you don’t have an LTE signal. Instead of cellular signals, the phone would utilize Bluetooth so that you can continue doing voice calls. Pretty neat, don’t you think?

There are two colours confirmed for the Reno12 Pro. These are Nebula Silver and Space Brown.

Again, both phones are slated to launch on July 12. Yep, just three days away from now.
