ICYMI: The POCO F6 Pro Launched with a PHP 26,999 Starting Price

A little late for us to write for something that was released a month ago, no?

This is the POCO F6 Pro. Now, you might get a little confused. The POCO F6 has a third generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 while this phone is only on the second generation. Don’t be fooled, the POCO F6 Pro still has the better processor. See, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 found on the POCO F6 is nothing more than a beefed up Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. Qualcomm is not always straightforward with names and may even use them for marketing purposes.

Clearing that confusion aside, our long hiatus made us wait this long for us to write about the now month-old POCO F6 Pro. But we believe this is just great timing for you to read since the realme GT6 is rounding up the works and will be released tomorrow, including the Philippines.

This is the phone that realme is expected to compete with. If you search it up in Lazada, you’ll notice that the POCO F6 Pro has a price tag of PHP 26,999 (12/256) which is very generous for such a flagship-tier phone, as if POCO is going back to their POCO F1 roots. A charming and risky act executed perfectly, we might add.

The design differs greatly from the POCO F6, which is known in China to be the Redmi Turbo 3. The POCO F6 Pro features three cameras and an LED flash and its back has a ceramic-like texture. These cameras include a 50MP “Light Fusion 800” main sensor which is just the OV50B but under POCO’s own words. The other camera is an 8MP Ultrawide, and the other is sadly the 2MP macro that nobody ever wanted. Since it’s not exactly a camera phone, it’s best to keep costs down in this section.

The display though, that’s one good display on paper. It is a QHD+ (3200x1440px) AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, and 12-bit colour depth. Typical of flagship displays. This display is made by TCL instead of Samsung so you can rest easy that there will be no green lines here.

Finally, it has a 5000mAh battery (typical) and 120Hz fast charging. Though it comes with its own charger and brick, any 120W charger will charge the phone just as fast.

It comes in White and Black and is priced at PHP 26,999 (12/256), PHP 28,999 (12/512), and finally PHP 32,999 (16/1TB). When you look at these prices, they actually sound really good to be true but luckily for you they are true, and this is Xiaomi, and by extension, POCO’s biggest strength… though they do have some weaknesses, including buggy software, “disposable” hardware, and they are not the fastest to respond to customer complaints.
