The return of the king
The realme GT series, since its debut, is highly anticipated by many loyal realme fans and even those who aren’t into realme loves the series for its flagship killer aesthetic. It is what keeps the POCO F series from getting too expensive. However, since the first realme GT, no new GT phones were announced for the global market and hence why when realme’s founder, Sky Li, announced the return of the GT series for global markets during a Forbes interview, the hype is quite intense! We’re just hoping realme does the pricing right or they will never compete with the POCO F series.
The phone was announced in several countries. First in Thailand, then India, and then soon, realme Philippines eagerly reported about its glorious return. There is a catch though. The global realme GT6 we’re getting is actually the GT Neo6 released first in China, so we’re getting a slight nerf here. Remember, there are only a few changes made from this to the actual GT6 released for the Chinese market so it’s not all a huge loss.
When you visit any form of tech event, there’s always going to be one thing floating around. AI. Even the tagline on this says, “Flagship Killer Powered by AI”. AI here, AI there, AI everywhere! That’s the buzzword of the year, techies.
If we are following the GT Neo6 in China, the realme GT6 we’re getting comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB ROM. Guess what else comes with the same chipset? The POCO F6! Though, the POCO F6 has only 12/256 as its max option. We might not be getting the 16/1TB version either for the global GT 6. We also heard a GT 6 Pro might be coming alongside it and this might be the real GT6 that came from China.
Other specs that the Neo6 have include a 6.78″ flat 1.5K (2780x1264px) LTPO AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and 6000nits of brightness, which makes this a portable flash bang grenade when maximized. Be careful not to blind yourself. We’re guessing that 144Hz isn’t just cutting it for many users, most likely due to the immense battery drain while using it. Since this is LTPO, the colors are much more balanced versus a regular AMOLED display and that the refresh rate varies between 1-120Hz.
Many phones today omit a third camera, as many users, even the casual ones, found out that the third camera is useless anyway. So, the GT 6 now only comes with the essential 50MP Sony IMX882 primary and an 8MP Sony IMX355 Ultrawide. You know, the basic ones. By the way, this is also the same camera setup as the POCO F6. As for the front, it is a 32MP Sony IMX615, the same one Oppo uses for many of their midrange phones and now realme shares with this too.
Gaming phones are known for being highly demanding. Well, their target audience anyway. And so they need to have the longest-lasting battery possible so gamers can use the phone all day. When the battery is out, it needs to reload fast. As they say in many FPS shooters, “switching to your pistol is faster than reloading”, and when we translate this into smartphone terms, gamers can just leash out another device instead of charging it. Luckily, the realme GT6 has a large dual cell 2750mAh battery, marking a grand total of 5500mAh of battery capacity, plus 120W charging. These aren’t groundbreaking today but still quite fast and robust for many users.
Finally, the phone has the usual shtick. A dual speaker with Hi-Res Audio, in-display fingerprint sensor, 5G services, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.4. The phone comes in a familiar squarish design that Redmi users get to thinking “this isn’t the Redmi Note 13 Pro?”. Also, a dual LED flash as well. It comes in Purple, Grey, and Green all in brushed metal.
Aside from the Philippines, Thailand, and India, the realme GT6 will launch in Italy, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Malaysia, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, and Poland. No dates were mentioned yet about the launch so stay tuned fellow techies!
