Infinix HOT 40 Series Launched with an “iPhone at Home” Look!

Just one more blowout to end the year.

Infinix has just a few more phones to release right before the year ends, and earlier too before the 12.12 grand sale and Christmas. If you wanted to give your loved one a special present without breaking the bank (or if you want to prank them by giving them a cheap-looking iPhone), then here it is.

INFINIX HOT 40 PRO:

In the highest-end segment, the Infinix Hot 40 Pro packs a sizeable amount of features. Though it’s no “iPhone” or even flagship level, it’s still worth a purchase. See, the phone comes with a 6.78″ FullHD+ (2400x1080px) IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Inside you’ll find everyone’s favourite processor, the MediaTek Helio G99 (Seriously, how many phones have this chipset?). It comes with 8GB Physical LPDDR4X RAM (+8GB Virtual) and 128 or 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. It does come with a MicroSD Card slot which you can use to differentiate the iPhone with fewer features.

There are “three” cameras at the back, at the very loosest sense. Because only the 108MP primary camera truly functions whereas the other two, a 2MP macro and a depth camera, are for aesthetic purposes only. They function but are very negligible. At the front is a high-res 32MP selfie camera with Infinix’s retelling of the Dynamic Island called “Magic Ring”. Like Apple’s Dynamic Island, this ring sends out notifications including incoming calls, charging progress, and unlocking.

Just like many phones today, it comes with its own game manager and booster built-in. For Infinix, it’s called “X Boost” which amps up your game by giving them better stability, in Infinix’s words. The phone boots with Android 13 layered with XOS 13.5.

Finally, the battery. It’s a 5000mAh battery of course, and with 33W fast charging. According to Infinix, this battery is durable enough to hold 1600 charge cycles, or nearly 4 years worth of charging (which is more than enough for a budget phone) and can charge from 20 to 75 percent in 35 minutes. That’s not a lot to brag about but it’s still pretty fast.

In terms of connectivity, a USB-C port, 3.5mm jack, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.2, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor are present. There has been no phone in the HOT series that supports 5G at this time of writing.

It comes in Palm Blue, Horizon Gold, Starlit Black, and Starfall Green. It is made of plastic but Transsion crafted it so it appears to be metallic and premium-looking.

INFINIX HOT 40:

The vanilla HOT 40 is a slightly watered-down HOT 40 Pro, coming with a similar spec sheet including a 5000mAh battery, 33W fast charging, and a 6.78″ IPS LCD. However, the refresh rate is toned down to just 90Hz and the chipset is also reduced to a MediaTek Helio G88, something we haven’t seen for a while as everyone else holds on to the G85. However, despite these, the HOT 40 has a better 270Hz touch response rate, for strange unknown reasons.

The camera at the back is also replaced. It now uses a 50MP primary shooter instead of a 108MP as seen on the Pro. It still did keep the same useless 2MP duo which should have been removed at this point. The selfie camera is thankfully untouched. It’s the same 32MP sensor hidden under the so-called “Magic Ring”.

It also has the same colours as the HOT 40 Pro.

INFINIX HOT 40i

A true connoisseur for the “iPhone at Home”, the Hot 40i is the most affordable among the three and therefore, the most downgraded with specs. It does not even use a MediaTek chipset this time, instead, opting for a UNISOC Tiger T606 which is just as good as a Helio G35, to compare.

Also, the design, noticeable at the back, is slightly different. You get a “ring light” flash instead of a useless 2MP module. Sounds like a fair tradeoff. The cameras are the same as with the vanilla phone though. A 50MP primary and a 32MP selfie hidden under the so-called “Magic Ring”.

Also, to keep the phone’s price low, charging rate is slowed down to 18W as well. The battery capacity, 5000mAh, is retained. It uses a USB-C port, still. Like the other two, it comes with 4G LTE, Bluetooth, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Dual-band Wi-Fi, and a 3.5mm jack.

Infinix has told no price at the moment but it will be “under USD 200 (~PHP 10K)”. And no, Infinix Philippines did not tell us yet whether its release is imminent in the Philippines but its announcement globally gives a hint that it should be released before Christmas, to say the least.
