Still overpriced as ever.
Last year, Oppo released the A58 5G, an overpriced smartphone with basic 5G features. Now, there is a 4G version of that with an oddly better design.
The phone is still made of plastic, as most A-series phones do. The A58 4G is an entry-level device with a 6.72″ FullHD+ (2400x1080px) IPS LCD screen. The phone’s design is reminiscent of newer A-series phones such as the A77.
It comes with a typical 5000mAh + 33W fast charging inside which is now the default for all Oppo smartphones that are priced above PHP 6K.
The chipset inside is a MediaTek Helio G85, an ageing chipset that should be considered in sub-6K smartphones now. This is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
There are “two” cameras at the back. A primary 50MP sensor and 2MP depth. In front is an 8MP selfie camera. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security purposes.
Of course, it runs a modified version of ColorOS 13.1 based on Android 13.
It is available in Indonesia for IDR 2,499,000 (~PHP 9.1K) and comes in Light Blue and Black. It would also soon be available in Thailand, India, and Malaysia but there is no word yet for us here in the Philippines.
