HONOR Officially Unveils Their Newest Foldable Phone, the Magic V2

Now with even lesser creases, possibly none visible!

Honor announced the Magic V2 for the global market. It’s an elegantly designed flagship foldable phone that barely has visible creases! The tablet is a follow-up to the Magic Vs (pronounced Vee-Es)

The foldable phone is thin measuring only 9.9mm in thickness when folded and 4.7mm when unfolded. It’s also lightweight at 231 grams which is almost similar to a typical smartphone weight. It has beaten the previous record holder, the Huawei Mate X3 which measured a thickness of 11.08mm

Every company has different iterations to make the folding mechanism work. In the case of the Honor Magic V2, the company utilized a gearless hinge mechanism connected using proprietary small screws. This makes it tougher and makes dust harder to infest the device but also harder to self-repair.

In an unfolded state, the tablet reveals a 7.9″ QHD+ (2344x2156px) LTPO AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 3840Hz PWM Dimming that reduces flicker and a whoppingly bright 1600nits peak brightness.

The cover display, which is the display when the foldable phone is in its folded state, measures 6.43″, comes with a FullHD+ (2376x1060px) resolution, and an even brighter 2500nits max brightness. The display also has stylus support in case you need to jot down notes.

As a flagship phone, the tablet is equipped with the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, the Cortex-X3 super core is overclocked to 3.36GHz. The regular variant comes with 12GB RAM and either 256 or 512GB storage, and the Ultimate, which is the exact same tablet, comes with 16GB RAM and 1TB internal storage. To keep it cool, the tablet has a graphene sheet with a 29,000sq.mm. dissipation area.

Instead of the usual Li-Po battery, the new Magic V2 inhibits a 5,000mAh SiC battery. This means that there could be more capacity inside a battery while also consuming less space. It comes with 66W SuperCharge support.

It has an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner which only a number of flagships have. This type of sensor is even faster than regular optical ones and is far more secure. The folding phone also has 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, Hi-Res Audio, and Dolby Atmos support to ensure you’re watching in a theatre-like experience.

The tablet apparently also has an IR Blaster. It’s nice that this nifty little feature is making a silent comeback.

It boots up with MagicOS 7 based on Android 13.

The regular 12/256 option costs CNY 8,999 (~PHP 60.5K), the 12/512 at CNY 9,999 (~PHP 75.6K), and the Ultimate at CNY 11,999 (~PHP 90.7K). It is available now in China and globally but HONOR Philippines is yet to announce this.
