The Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G Has Dated Specs, Including Android 11 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G Chipset

This phone is already a year old and it’s not even a year old!

It’s not everyday you see a phone boasting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G, let alone for a PHP14,999 price tag. It’s a rare chipset to find nowadays. In Xiaomi’s context, this chipset was last seen on the Mi 11 Lite and was the primary chipset used for the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. This was two years ago.

It’s nice to see it resurface on a 2023 phone, especially because the market is flooded with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset or a MediaTek Helio G99. This makes the phone unique and a few tiers higher in performance. Not only that, but the Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. However, this is an ageing chipset and Xiaomi using it is a symptom of the ongoing chipset shortage issue.

As the name suggests, it’s the lower-end version of the 5G Redmi Note 12 Pro. It retains the same display size but the rest of the specs are scaled down. To specify, it uses a 6.67″ 120Hz AMOLED screen with FullHD+ resolution. This screen is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The cameras at the back are housed in a large rectangular camera bump in a similar fashion as the Infinix Hot 11s. The top camera is where the 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor resides. The phone thankfully has at least a basic 8MP ultrawide but these two are joined with the infamous 2MP depth and macro cameras. The front camera has 16MP resolution.

It has a 5000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. It runs a now-dated Android 11 with MIUI 13 on top. We’re hoping to see it updated to at least Android 12 to enjoy longer app support and better security.

It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6/6e, Bluetooth 5.0, and an IR Blaster that is perfect for controlling non-WiFi appliances.

It is available for PHP 14,999 which, if you can think about it, is pretty expensive on what is basically a reskinned Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. For a bit more, you could already get a POCO F4 or a Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G. It comes in Star Blue, Glacier Blue, Polar White, and Graphite Grey.

It is now available for pre-order on Lazada and Shopee. It is currently in the pre-order stage which will last until June 18th when users can claim a FREE Xiaomi Powerbank for purchasing the phone.
