HTC released a new phone for the first time in forever

It feels like a miracle every time they release a phone.

If you’re surprised about this news, don’t worry, we are just as surprised as you are. For the longest time since 2022, the company announced a new phone. No, it’s not a budget phone this time, it’s actually a high-end midranger with quite the promising spec sheet. This includes the IP67 rating and even a 3.5mm jack.

The screen is measured 6.7 inches diagonally and has a FullHD+ resolution. Not only that, it’s OLED so black will be completely black and the colours are punchy. Did we forget to mention it has a 120Hz refresh rate as well? To top it all off, it uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus as protection.

The phone is armed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. Not the newest chipset but it still checks out. This is bundled with 8 or 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. It’s also one of the fewest to have a MicroSD Card slot (up to 1TB).

There are four cameras at the back. The main camera is a 108MP Samsung sensor with OIS alongside it are your usual best friends. These are the 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. It also has a hi-res 32MP selfie camera.

The battery department is also business as usual. Inside is a large slab of 4600mAh battery with 30W fast charging and 15W fast wireless charging.

Other main features include 5G connectivity, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6/6e, and NFC. The phone also comes with a pre-installed VIVERSE app which allows users to configure their VIVE VR headset. Users can reconnect through this app so as long as Bluetooth is on.

It is available in Taiwan first with an asking price of TWD 16,990 (~PHP 30.8K) for the 8/256 variant and TWD 17990 (~PHP 32.6K) for the 12/256 trim. The phone is not out yet internationally so there’s no release for the Philippines either. We doubt but we’ll let you know once they are available.

Still pretty expensive but it’s a worthy investment especially if HTC could create a stable UI with consistent security and Android updates. Speaking of Android, the phone runs Android 13. It comes in coffee black, and white.
