Oppo A57 5G is now out in China! Comes with 6nm Mediatek Dimensity 810 chip and a metallic-like build.

It’s a budget phone with a premium feel, therefore it should have a premium price. BBK logic at work!

Oppo has released another 5G phone in China called the A57 5G. It is carried by the Dimensity 810 chip inside and pretty much its only selling point as the other specs are disappointing given the price. It is priced in the same category as the Redmi Note 11s or the Realme 8 5G but its specs tell it is around the pricepoint of a budget phone like the Redmi 10

Starting with the disappointing screen. It is a 6.56in. HD+ (1612x720px) IPS LCD with 90Hz refresh rate on a waterdrop notch. Its cameras are also pretty lacking. It uses a 13mp camera (not even from a 2017 flagship) and a 2mp depth sensor. The front camera is 8mp.

It has the typical 5000mAh battery with no fast charging (capped at 10W). It is charged via USB-C. It launches with ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12.

The chipset is the only redeeming factor and yet it’s not reasonable enough to give it a price of CNY1,500 (~Php 12.3K). It uses a Mediatek Dimensity 810 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. For those who don’t know, Android 12 is the most demanding release as it asks for at least 6GB RAM for manufacturers to use.

It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock. It comes with three colours. Lilac, Dark Night, and Deep Blue. The colour names are taken into account from the Chinese translation so it might not be accurate. At least the Lilac/lavender colour option looks pretty.
