Huawei Nova 9 SE to arrive in the Philippines on 18th March

Despite their hardships, Huawei is still out here kicking and selling phones.

The Huawei Nova 9 SE is a slightly lower variant of the regular Huawei Nova 9. That phone is much curvier, the 9 SE however, is less curvy and is more square-ish shaped like the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It is also weaker in specs.

There are three colours for the phone: Crystal Blue, Pearl White, and Midnight Black. It will come in a 2.5D curved glass design. It is 6.78in. IPS LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate. In comparison, the Huawei Nova 9 has a 6.57in. OLED screen, so here you can already tell it’s a downgrade.

For the processor, the phone would use a far weaker Snapdragon 680 chipset (The Nova 9 uses the more powerful Snapdragon 778G). It is a 6nm chipset with no 5G services whatsoever; and even if Huawei used a 5G-qualified chip, it still would be of no use thanks to US sanctions. This chipset is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

There are four cameras at the back. The main one is a 108mp camera, most likely a Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor. This is complemented by an 8mp ultrawide, 2mp macro, and 2mp depth sensors. The latter two of which are quite unnecessary. The front camera is a 16mp lens with an f/2.2 aperture.

The battery is smaller than those found in the same class. It only has a capacity of 4000mAh whereas others have 4500mAh or higher. Still, it charges rapidly on paper with its complementary 66W fast charging capability.

One downside of the phone is the lack of a 3.5mm jack. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics and 4G LTE connectivity. It runs on EMUI 12 but without Google services.
