They are alive and kicking, just not as popular as they used to be.
Meizu hasn’t been around lately in the international smartphone industry, and they also have disappeared here in the Philippines so it’s not surprising people will perceive them as dead and long gone.
However, they are still alive and kicking in the Chinese market, and also has recently announced a collab with Sony, hell, they still have money to manufacture flagship phones, top tier ones at that.
Just recently, the company has announced the Meizu 10 series of budget phones. The Meizu 10 features a 6.52in. HD+ IPS LCD, and is powered using a UNISOC T618 processor, a 12nm processor with similar performance as the Helio G80, Snapdragon 680, and other processors of similar calibre. This SoC is paired with 4 or 6GB RAM and either 64 or 128GB internal storage. This storage can further be expanded up to 256GB with a MicroSD card
There are three cameras at the back, with a camera design similar to many Oppo or Vivo phones. The main camera is 48mp. This is complemented with the usual 2mp depth and macro cameras that are of little use. At the front, there’s an 8mp camera housed on a waterdrop notch.
It has a 5000mAh battery charged through a USB-C port. There’s no fast charging announced so we’re going to assume it’s just the regular 10W charging. There’s also a headphone jack but no fingerprint scanner. It does support face unlock, however.
While budget, the design of the phone is premium as the back is made of glass. There are three colours: Black, White, and Green.
