Now you can dispose your phone without worrying of electronic pollution! /s
Earlier rumors have told us that the GT2 Pro should come in a design that’s probably inspired by a no-touch hand thermometer. However, now that the official release is here, that design has been debunked. Instead of the more interesting design, Realme opted for a more typical “Oppo-ish” design that may have been inspired from the Reno 7 series.
Realme has been creative with the designs of the Realme GT series lately, often going with different materials with the back finish.
Both the Realme GT2 and GT2 Pro are teased to be the world’s first phones designed on a bio-based polymer material that mimics the feel of paper. This type of material is sustainable and reduces carbon emissions by 63% per kilogram and fossil feedstock consumption by 35%. This has been designed in partnership with Naoto Fukusawa which, if you can remember, also designed the Realme GT Master Edition.
In addition to the paper-like design, the phones also come with regular AG Glass versions. Starting with the screen, the Realme GT2 opts for a 6.62in. FHD+ AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate. This screen also features DC Dimming, full DCI-P3 colour gamut, and up to 1,300nits of brightness.
In terms of its chipset, it is as competitive as newer flagships. It comes with a 5nm Snapdragon 888 5G processor which may no longer be the latest flagship chip, but it still competes strongly as it is just one successor away from the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. It is paired with either 8 or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and either 128 or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.
It uses the Sony IMX766 for its rear main camera. This camera has a 50mp resolution and also has OIS and PDAF. Complemented by this 50mp sensor are the 8mp ultrawide and 2mp macro. In front is a 16mp Sony IMX471 sensor that’s quite typical on flagship killers. The Sony IMX766 is seen on earlier flagships.
There’s a 5000mAh battery with 65W fast charging so that you can charge it rapidly if you’re in a hurry. It boots with Android 12 at the ready and uses Realme’s Realme UI 3.0 skin on top of it. There’s an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometrics and supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and 5G services. There’s no SD card slot nor headphone jack though.
In comes in 2+2 colours. Two for AG Glass and two for paper. These are the Forged Black, Titanium Blue, Paper White, and Paper Green respectively. Prices are yet to be announced globally.

Realme GT2 Pro
The Realme GT2 Pro boasts the world’s first flat LTPO AMOLED panel. This panel has a diagonal measurement of 6.7in. and has a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz. This adjusts depending on what activity you’re doing with the phone and the high refresh rate would shine when playing a game. As it uses LTPO, it has, of course, a QHD+ resolution (1440x3216px) and also has a peak brightness of 1400nits. It supports HDR10+ as well.
It also uses the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset with a 4nm process. This is paired with 8 or 12GB RAM and either 128, 256, or 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. It uses the Adreno 730 for graphics and should compete well with other flagships and flagship killers.
It has a camera that’s quite interesting. You got the regular 50mp main camera that’s identical to the regular GT2. There’s also another 50mp Samsung ISOCELL ultrawide camera with a quite literally ultrawide 150° FOV, and finally, instead of the usual macro, Realme opted to zoom in a lot closer to the world with a microscope (you read that right!) camera with a resolution of 3mp. We want to see this camera tried on objects cannot be seen with the naked eye normally such as different forms of germs, cells, and other microscopic life and objects. This microscope has a 40x magnification. Of course, a real microscope is far more powerful and some can zoom up to 10,000 times.
The cameras can record both in 8K and 4K. The main camera can record 4K both in 30 or 60fps by the way. The front camera has a higher resolution at 32mp in comparison to the GT2’s 16mp. It can record in 1080p@30fps.
It has the same audio setup as the Realme GT2. Having no headphone jack. This is compensated by stereo speakers that are complemented with Hi-Res and Dolby Atmos audio enhancement.
Like the Realme GT2, the GT2 Pro has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC support. For the battery, it is also identical, a 5000mAh battery with 65W fast charging. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint and similar colour options as the GT2, including the aforementioned bio-grade polymer design. One innovation seen here is the company’s HyperSmart antennas. There are 12 wraparound antennas surrounding the phone and maintains a consistent signal strength wherever you are.
To help keep the temperature in check, Realme has included a Diamond Ice cooling system that they claim helps cool down the core temperature by 19% versus other cooling systems. This Diamond Ice system has 100% heat source coverage.
We’re waiting for a global release, including here in the Philippines. Although the original Realme GT has never officially been released here.
