Marketing tactics by Xiaomi once again prevail.
The Poco M4 Pro 5G has launched today. Before the launch, we were actually anticipating a rebranded and a slightly redesigned Redmi Note 11 for the global market, because that’s what the leaks have told us. Now that the event is over, we finally have some confirmations that the phone is indeed a slightly redesigned Redmi Note 11, with a big POCO logo on the upper right corner, like the M3.
Just like the Redmi Note 11, the Poco M4 Pro 5G comes with a 6.5in. FHD+ IPS LCD panel with 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. This phone is also powered by Mediatek’s Dimensity 810 processor, which is exactly the same as its Redmi Note counterpart. This is complemented by either 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.2 storage and up to 1TB MicroSD card expansion.
In terms of cameras, there are two cameras. The phone comes with a 50mp main sensor and an 8mp ultrawide camera. We’re glad that Poco and Xiaomi skipped on the gimmicky, quite useless, no good 2mp depth and macro sensors. We clearly don’t need those. The phone came with a 16mp front camera.
In terms of battery and charging rate, the phone uses a typically large 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. For biometrics, the phone came with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone has support for NFC although this is region-dependent. Like the Redmi Note 11, this comes with an IR Blaster, as well as the 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio and stereo speakers.
The phone runs MIUI 12.5 out of the box and also supports the Virtual RAM feature that other phones are starting to have, 5GB RAM for the 4/64 variant and 8GB RAM for the 6/128 variant.
As for pricing, the phone starts at Php 11,990 for 4/64 variant and Php 12,990 for the 6/128 variant. The phone also comes with a special treat! If you pre-order, the phone would be discounted to Php 10,990 and Php 11,990 respectively. Comes in three colours: Power Black, Cool Blue and Poco Yellow, the company’s main colour.
Pre-order starts on November 11th until November 12th. Just in time for the 11/11 sales on Lazada and Shopee. There’s a bonus to it too. The first 100 buyers to get the Poco M4 Pro 5G during the 11/11 sale would get a free Xiaomi Mi Band worth Php2290. As for the first 200 buyers, you get a fancy tote bag. Not as valuable as the Mi band but still worth it as a freebie.
You can pre-order the phone through Shopee.
Oh, the company also announced the Poco F3 in a new colour, called Moonlight Silver. It would also be available on November 11 on online platforms. It is not announced yet whether it’s also coming out for the Philippines.
