Another music bot down! YouTube forces Rythm to shut down its services

YouTube and Google are on a genocidal mission to eliminate every music bot in existence.

With the shutdown of Groovy not so long ago, YouTube is again killing another third party music bot called “Rythm” as the developers comply to its ceast and desist letter. According to YouTube, these music bots are actually breaking the platform’s ToS by playing music in the background passively without playing the ads, and potentially could cost the company and the music owners millions.

Rhythm boasts about 500 million users and the primary reason for its shutdown was its premium service. On 15th September, Rythm will be shutting down permanently. It’s awful too since this is the bot we’re using for our WIP server.

Looking for another music bot is futile since YouTube will probably shut them off too. Best way to negate the ads is through apps like YouTube Vanced or through adblock. Remember that you’re also stripping away income from YouTubers if you have adblock turned on since they won’t get ad revenue from their videos.

One way or another we knew this was due to happen eventually,” admits Yoav, the creator of Rythm bot, “Which is why we started working on something new a year ago. Groovy receiving one just meant it would happen sooner rather than later.”

Because a new project is in the works, we can’t wait what goody alternative the developers of the former Rythm come up to next, hopefully it complies with YouTube’s policies for the better this time.

On the other hand, YouTube and Discord are working on an alternative, probably an expensive one similar to YouTube Premium, it’s a social party feature called YouTube Watch Party. While not exactly a music bot replacement, it will help Discord users watch YouTube content on Discord legally and without obstruction of Terms of Service.
