Hint hint, there’s also a rumored release here in the Philippines!
The Red Magic series is ZTE’s own line of gaming smartphones and when they say “gaming” they mean pushing the limits in performance. The Red Magic 6s Pro for instance, is coming with 165Hz refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling rate and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor paired with 12 or 16GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Yep, you saw it right, it comes with 165Hz refresh rate that is comparable to even the most expensive gaming monitors today. Oh, did we forget to mention that it now has a faster touch response rate for multiple fingers? The Red Magic 6 Pro in comparison offered 360Hz for multiple fingers, the 6s Pro offers double the sampling rate!
The display is a 6.8in. AMOLED panel protected by Corning Gorilla Glass (not specified, possibly Victus) and comes with a FHD+ (2400×1080) resolution with 387ppi density.
The design is as aggressive as ever, and ZTE did not limit themselves from the design. Previous handsets from the Red Magic series only had one or two cameras, but the Red Magic 6s Pro has three. These cameras are composed of a usual triple camera setup: a 64mp main, an 8mp ultrawide and a 2mp depth. As it is intended for long-term performance and endurance, it’s no surprise that ZTE did not do much about the camera. For selfies, it uses a standard 8mp shooter.
As a performance/hardcore gaming device, it’s bound to get hot when one uses it for a long time, even if the processor is efficient. A standard among gaming phones is the cooling system. Usually it’s either a powerful fan cramped inside the phone or Vapor Chamber Liquid Cooling. ZTE went for both. The VC cooling system is composed of a graphene layer, “aviation-grade” aluminium and a VC cooling plate. In addition, there’s also a “turbofan” that can cool your phone up to a maximum of 16°C and has a fast 20,000 rotations per minute speed. ZTE said that the fan can last 30,000 hours on a single use. In addition, the fan has RGB lighting that users can change at will, however this is only available for the transparent version of the device.
In addition to its already brilliant AMOLED display, refresh rate, and cooling system, there’s also other things such as a standard 4500mAh with 120W fast charging (China variant) or 5050mAh battery with 66W fast charging (global variant), Hi-Res audio including DTS:X finetuning, an in-display fingerprint sensor that can also read your heart rate (sounds gimmicky but sure) and 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Also another added bonus is the “charging separation” feature which we’re surprised that no other phone has implemented yet considering how many people use their phone while charging. As the title states, when you plug-in your device, it will take power from the cable instead of the battery. This feature is available in its gaming assistant app called “Game Space” and will help users keep the health of the phone’s battery in tip-top condition.
It has trigger pads which some games support. Games that support the trigger pads include Fortnite, Genshin Impact and LoL: Wild Rift. For the impressive 165Hz refresh rate, there are also some games which natively support it such as Real Racing 3, Vainglory and Dead Trigger 2. For any other game, the trigger pad support and high refresh rate can be adjusted in the game’s settings or through the Game Space app.
As stated from the title, it’s now available for purchase in China and there are hints that the device would also be available here in the Philippines, thanks to a Facebook post by Nubia themselves.
There’s going to be two variants of the phone: a transparent version which includes the RGB-lit turbofan (dubbed “Ghost”) and the regular black variant (dubbed “Cyborg”). Prices are as follows (global variant):
Cyborg Black:
- 12/128: $599 (~Php 30K)
