Meizu has unveiled a new watch to its home country in China! (Oh wow that company apparently is still alive and kicking). The new Meizu Watch is built on a 6-series aluminium alloy with a ceramic base. The watch comes with a 1.78in. AMOLED display and is protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. This panel displays a resolution output of 368x448px, and has a pixel density of 326ppi. For its brightness, it has 500 nits peak brightness.
The watch uses Meizu’s FlymeOS (read as: Fly Me) for watches, allowing users to customise their watch faces and includes features such as Aicy smart assistant and numerous system optimisations that could deliver a smartphone-like experience on a watch thanks to its One Watch for Mind initiative.
For the battery, it is powered by a 420mAh battery that could deliver a 36h battery life on a single charge. The company claims that the watch can last a day once charged for 15 minutes. The watch has 1GB RAM and 8GB storage and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 chipset for watches. For connectivity, you have 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC that lets you pay contactless through Meizu Pay. In addition, the watch also supports LTE services, which means you can send messages and do voice calls on it, well that is if you can manage on a teeny-tiny screen when you already have a phone with you.
Oh yeah, it’s a watch, so it has also different sports modes such as indoor and outdoor running, walking, badminton, bowling, table tennis, indoor and outdoor cycling, etc. In addition, as a watch, it obviously has multiple sensors which range from heart rate to blood oxygen monitoring and can even track your sleep.
The watch sells for CNY 1499 (~11.2K php) and comes in two colours: Black and Azure. Sale starts tomorrow, June 1st, in China.
