The gaming-centric RedMagic 6R has been released in China!

ZTE has released another rendition of the Red Magic 6 series, the 6R! The device is currently available only in China however. Previously, the Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro were launched last March. The Red Magic 6R’s key specifications include a 144Hz, a Snapdragon 888 5G chipset and 55W fast charging.

Specifications:

Red Magic 6R limited edition

The Red Magic 6R uses a 6.67in. SAMOLED panel with FHD (1080x1920px) resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The phone also features a 360Hz touch sampling rate, a peak brightness of 770nits, which may not be the brightest, but is bright enough for outdoor use, DCI-P3 colour gamut, HDR10+, 10-bit colour support and an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Red Magic 6R’s battery is not the most top notch, because it only has a capacity of 4,200mAh with 55W fast charging. In comparison, the Red Magic 6’s battery has a slightly larger capacity of 4,500mAh and 66W fast charging. The 6 Pro has the same capacity, but with 120W fast charging, making the 6R’s fast charging the lowest-rated.

As a gaming phone, it comes with a top notch Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. The phone uses the RedMagic UI 4.0 based on Android 11, as its UI.

Other features of the 6R include the 3D liquid cooling system, which is composed of a graphene layer, a VC liquid cooling system, thermal gel, superconducting copper foil and a metallic frame.

As it is a gaming phone, it has to come with shoulder trigger pads. These trigger buttons have a response rate of as low as 8.3mms and a touch sampling rate of 400Hz. ZTE has partnered up with Tencent and local buyers who purchase the phone may also receive goodies from Tencent’s games such as Call of Duty, PUBG Mobile, Glory of the King, etc.

For the cameras, it uses a Sony IMX682 64mp as its main sensor, coupled with three more complementary cameras, of which includes an 8mp ultrawide, a 5mp macro and a 2mp depth. For selfies, it comes with a 16mp dot notch.

Finally, comes the connectivity. The phone obviously supports 5G. Alongside that, comes the Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, DTS:X sound support, and USB-C.

As seen from the image above, ZTE is also releasing a new colour variant on limited stocks. This version is called Red Magic 6R “Buddha IP Limited Edition” that is inspired by the Monkey King game. This variant comes with a 12/256 RAM/storage option. Other than that, the specs of it are the same as the vanilla Red Magic 6R.
