It was just last December, approximately, 5 months ago when the Reno 5 series, including the 5G editions, were released. In fact, they still feel new, but Oppo made them look like it was made a year ago now they have released its successor.
Let’s start with the Reno 6
Reno 6
The Reno 6, with that thickness and with that metallic build, sort of feels like an iPhone 12 but Oppo designed it. The Oppo Reno 6 boasts a flat 6.4in. FHD+ AMOLED display and 90Hz refresh rate. The phone feels a little less curved compared to its Pro siblings, hence that’s why we thought the design looked “iPhone-ish”. For the cameras, it comes with a triple 64mp main cam, an 8mp ultrawide and a 2mp macro. You know, the usual stuff. For the selfies, where Oppo is known for, there comes a 32mp shooter.
For the processor, the company opted to equip the Reno 6 with the newly announced Mediatek Dimensity 900 chipset. And, just like the Dimensity 1100, is fabricated based on a 6nm process. To recap, the Mediatek Dimensity 900 5G chipset uses an octa-core CPU (6x Cortex A-55 @2.0GHz and 2x Cortex A-78 @2.4GHz) and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. In comparison, the Mediatek Dimensity 820 is fabricated on a 7nm process and uses a 6x Cortex A-55 @2.0GHz and 6x Cortex A-76 @2.6GHz for the CPU, and a Mali-G57 MC5 for the GPU. This new chipset is equivalent to the newly released Snapdragon 780G chipset.
Anyway, back to the Oppo Reno 6, the battery of the device has a capacity of 4500mAh and a speedy 65W fast charging system. The phone will ship with ColorOS 11.3 based on Android 11 out of the box.
The phone will retail for CNY 2799 (~21K php) for the base 8/128 variant and the 12/256 model will retail for 3199 CNY (~24K php). Selling starts on 11th June.
Reno 6 Pro and Pro+
These two phones have nearly identical specs, with their camera resolution differentiating the two. So let’s get on with it.
On the Pro+, comes the 64mp Sony IMX766 main camera sensor. Yes! The same sensor found on the flagship Find X3 Pro. The phone is complemented by three more sensors, which are actually useful instead of gimmicks. The other three snappers include a 16mp ultrawide lens, a 13mp telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 2mp macro, just so we can call it a “quad camera” setup.
The Pro, on the other hand uses the same boring quad camera setup, so camera isn’t the biggest priority here. It packs an unidentified 64mp snapper, backed by an 8mp ultrawide and two auxiliaries, a 2mp macro and depth sensor. Effectively, the Reno 6 Pro only has two cameras.
The Pro+ is the highest end packing a Snapdragon 870 chipset and the Pro packing in a Dimensity 1200 chipset. Both are 5G-enabled.
Their battery and displays are identical. Both phones are powered by a 4500mAh battery coupled with 65W fast charging speeds. For the display, both use a curved 6.55in. FHD+ AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate. And like every Oppo phone, all these three phones are shipped with ColorOS 11.3 based on Android 11 out of the box.
The Reno 6 Pro will retail for CNY 3499 (~26.2K php) for the 8/128 option, and CNY 3799 (~28.5K php) for the 12/256 option.
The Pro+ retails for CNY 3999 (~30K php) for the 8/128 variant and CNY 4499 (~33.7K php) for the 12/256 variant. The Reno 6 Pro and Pro+ will be on sale first, before the vanilla variant, as sales for both phones will start on 5th June, a week before the vanilla variant.
We’ll here more about the PH release soon! The Reno 5 series came into the country, so why not the Reno 6 series?
