A livestream was held today 7pm PST regarding Poco’s newly announced gaming smartphones. The Poco X3 Pro and the long-awaited successor to the F1, the F3.
The livestream revealed pretty interesting specs for both phones. Let’s start with the Poco X3 Pro
Poco X3 Pro
The Poco X3 Pro is the successor to the Poco X3. The phone has been updated slightly internally, but the design remained nearly unchanged.
Chipset and GPU:
Poco is going the extra mile here. Instead of opting for a Snapdragon 700 series chipset, they took it up a notch by instead giving the phone the Snap 860! A slightly underclocked version of the 865; which means, this phone does not support 5G unfortunately, but it gives a smooth and powerful performance nonetheless.
The Snapdragon 860 comes with Adreno 640 GPU and has an advertised 490K+ score on AnTuTu
Display/Design:
As for the display, it is a 6.67in. FHD IPS LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. This means the display is smooth whether for quick scrolling or hardcore gaming.
The phone comes in three colours: Phantom Black, Frost Blue and Metal Bronze. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 for scratch resistance.
Camera:
Poco mainly targets budget and hardcore gamers, so it’s no surprise that they did not do much for the camera system. It comes with the cliche quad camera setup with a 48mp Sony IMX582 main sensor, a 119 degree 8mp ultrawide and two 2mp depth and macro cameras.
Despite these, Poco did introduce new features which was integrated from Redmi Note 10. These are the video clone and Dual Video modes.
For selfies, it comes with a single 20mp camera on the dot display.
Battery:
The Poco X3 Pro comes with a large 5160mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. According to Poco’s testing, it can last for up to 18h of video playback, 11h of gaming, 117h of music and 6.5 hours of 1080p video recording. For casual usage, Poco says the phone can last you two days before it runs out of juice.
Additional Features/Audio:
The Poco X3 Pro, like the Poco X3 NFC, comes with NFC, IR Blaster and headphone jack.
For audio, it will come with dual speakers and High-res audio.
Availability/Pricing.
Xiaomi and Poco are known for their wild and aggressive pricing, with high specs ratios, and the Poco X3 Pro is no different. The Poco X3 comes in two configurations: 6/128 and 8/256.
The Poco X3 Pro would also come in early bird prices. €199 for 6/128 (~11.5K php) and €249 (~14.4K) for the 8/256 version.
Take note that all the prices are converted DIRECTLY. Import taxes have not been applied. Let’s wait for Xiaomi Philippines for the official pricing.
Update: Poco has announced official prices for the Poco X3 Pro
The 6/128 version starts at 12,990 php
The 8/256 version starts at 15,990 php
The early bird prices once it launches on 24th March will be 10,990 for the 6/128 version, and 13,990 for the 8/256 version.
The Poco X3 Pro is exclusively for sale on Shopee. Though Xiaomi may list it on Lazada or their offline stores sometime in the future.
Poco F3
Fans have dearly loved the F series so much because it was the series that disrupted the market. Remember the F1? Poco since this announcement will launch its true successor (cause the F2 Pro just wasn’t it).
Chipset/GPU
We don’t know exactly why Poco did not opt for the Snapdragon 888, but we speculate it’s probably for cost-cutting reasons. This is not exactly an issue because the phone comes with the Snapdragon 870, a 5G-ready processor that has the same architecture as the 865+ but overclocked.
For the GPU, it comes with the Adreno 650, the same as the Snapdragon 865+ GPU. With this chipset, you could handle most games in smooth and high frame rates. According to Poco, this particular chipset has an AnTuTu score of 641,758 points
Like the X3 Pro, this comes with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 and is clocked to 3.2GHz.
Display:
The Poco F3 has a 6.67in. AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1300 nits. The display supports HDR10+ for crisp and vivid viewing experience. Like the X3 Pro, the phone supports 120Hz refresh rate but jumps the shark when Poco announced that the phone has 360Hz touch sampling rate! This was never-before-seen on any flagship.
Camera:
The Poco F3 comes with the totally new and unique triple camera setup. It comes with a 48MP Sony IMX 582 main camera, an 8MP 119-degree ultrawide and a single 5MP macro camera (at least they bumped the number a bit this time).
Like the Poco X3, Poco did introduce new features which some were integrated from the Redmi Note 10 series. These are the: Magic Zoom, Slow Shutter, Time Freeze, Night Timelapse, Parallel World and Freeze Frame. Their functions are self-explanatory.
For the selfies, it comes with the same 20mp camera as the Poco X3 Pro.
Poco added one more feature. The Poco F3 has a dedicated mic sitting beside the 5MP macro, making video recording clearer than using the usual microphone. This dedicated mic has been added for the Audio Zoom video feature, which, the closer you get, the louder audio would become.
Battery/Design:
The Poco F3 comes with a 4520 mAh battery, a confusing move since the Poco X3 Pro has a larger 5160 mAh battery. However, the chipset is power-efficient and the capacity might not even have much of a difference to a casual user.
Nevertheless, the phone still has juice that lasts for two days and is quite the performer in their battery tests.
Like the Poco X3 Pro, the Poco F3 supports 33W fast charging and both phones would come with a 33W fast charger inside the box.
The phone comes in three colours: Frost White, Night Black (which are both matte-finish) and the exclusive Deep Ocean Blue which, according to Poco, has three shades of Blue in one shell.
Like the Poco X3 Pro, the Poco F3 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, but also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Don’t worry, there is not much of a difference between Gorilla Glass 5 and Glass 6, in fact, it’s marginal.
The phone measures a slim 7.8mm and weighs 196g, making it comfortable to hold in the hands.
Sound:
For the sound, the Poco F3 will also get dual speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio enhancement, for truly rich and immersive sound.
Availability/Pricing:
Update: Poco has announced prices for the Philippine Market.
The 6/128 version will start for 17,990
The 8/256 version will start for 20,990.
The early bird prices on 27th March starts at 15,990 for the 6/128 version and 18,990 for the 8/256 version.
Both of these are exclusively for sale in Lazada. Though, Xiaomi may also list it in Shopee and put it for sale on their offline stores in the future.
