Vivo V80 To Launch on October 30. Yes, ZEISS is Still Part of the Series

Enjoy your new AI filters on it. Don’t go to sloppy though!

Another day, another camera-centric smartphone to add to your Christmas wishlist. Consider the Vivo V80 if you love photography. Excited? We won’t beat around the bush, it features ZEISS-powered lenses, a massive 7200mAh battery, which is typical nowadays, and two attractive colours. The first one is Starwish Purple (pictured) and the other is Wander Green.

The phone mainly competes with the Honor 600 as both phones feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, a luxurious design feel, and flaunts its camera systems (and AI, let’s not forget that). The Vivo V80 comes in 8/128 and 8/256 configurations. If you ever want to purchase this phone, we recommend going for the latter.

The Vivo V80 features an AMOLED screen, specifically, a screen measuring 6.59 inches, 1.5K resolution, and 144Hz refresh rate. This type of refresh rate is now more common. Remember, only a year ago, we are seeing displays reaching only up to 120Hz. 144Hz is reserved for gaming phones, which in itself is getting extinct, or ultra flagships.

In terms of protection, Vivo listed two: IP68 and IP69. The latter allows for the phone to survive under immense water pressure.

Ever since the V30, the ZEISS lenses on the Vivo V-series remained, and this remains true for the V80. The V80 features an iPhone-ish camera island, as with many other smartphones nowadays. This island houses three cameras, two of which feature 50MP resolution, and the other is an 8MP ultrawide. At least, there are no random NPCs lying around.

Counting the front camera, there are three 50MP cameras here. The other two include the telephoto and the wide main lens. The telephoto and the main camera both have OIS. This means no shakey video. The Vivo V80 makes for the perfect vlogging phone.

Vivo heavily brags about the front camera, and it’s a no-nonsense selfie camera that also is ZEISS enhanced. With that much resolution, your blemishes and pimples can be seen in a nice 4K resolution. Capture the real you, as many brands say. Though, beautification can work wonders if you want to look like less of a real human and more of an anime character.

What disappeared in Vivo phones is the so-called “soft light” that mimics real ring lights. Instead, we got back to the plain-old flashlight and the ringlight feature is instead done via the bokeh/portrait mode.

Outside of the cameras, the Vivo V80 features a 7200mAh battery, typical for 2026 standards paired with 90W fast charging. The charger is still included thankfully because the Vivo V80 can be pricey for those under a tight budget or working with minimum wage.

The Vivo V80 includes an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which is faster, flagship-level, and more secure than typical optical fingerprint scanners. This is located underneath the display. It also features a single bottom-firing speaker, eSIM support, and surprisingly, an IR blaster, which is not a typical Vivo feature. You’d see this more on Xiaomi phones. The IR Blaster allows you to control appliances like TVs and ACs using your phone without relying on Wi-Fi.

The Vivo V80 is set to launch on October 30. Vivo has Anne Curtis be the face of the device and has been the face of vivo for the longest while.
