Huawei Nova Y73 Has a LARGE BATTERY. Launches in the Philippines Soon!

More phones with big batteries. A better gimmick than IP ratings at least.

Huawei is releasing another budget phone globally. This is the Nova Y73. Its main feature is its large battery. However, you already know this judging from the title. The Nova Y73 is basically every budget phone imaginable. From its generic design and features.

The phone will be available in the Philippines soon. There is no actual date yet, so best to stay calm and wait for it.

Since the phone’s main feature is having a big battery, that’s the first thing we want to point out. Most phones have a 5000mAh battery but this size is slowly progressing up to 6000mAh thanks to a little thing called “Silicon-Carbon”. It allows for batteries to remain at a small or constant size as a 5000mAh battery would while allowing brands to raise the capacity significantly. This is why you see phones now with 6000mAh or 7000mAh batteries like it’s just another day.

For the Nova Y73, the phone has a 6620mAh SiC battery that Huawei claims to last up to 1.4 days on offline video playback. Though, with a battery this large needs to charge fast to ready up the day. Huawei has included a 40W charger for every purchase of the Nova Y73.

Among other features of the Nova Y73, includes the display. This is a typically sized 6.67″ display lit using an LCD backlight. It also has not-so-full HD resolution and lacks a high refresh rate. Yep, you’re staying at 60Hz here.

Like many other budget phones, the Huawei Nova Y73 comes in a minimalistic design and of course, similar camera configuration. The Nova Y73 has a 50MP rear camera, a 2MP auxiliary camera, and an 8MP selfie shooter knit in a punch hole.

Finally, this phone is built tough. But let’s reminisce a bit. During the early years, from 2013-2021, you can barely see phones outside of flagships equipped with IP ratings. The type of rating that certifies your phone is dust, splash, or waterproof. Now, you can see this everywhere even in budget phones. It’s either brands have more budget to spend or that IP certification has gotten lower. Either way, this is good for consumers for their peace of mind, but certainly not the considering factor for one to buy a phone.

With all that said, the Nova Y73 comes with an IP64 rating so your phone is dustproof but only splashproof. It is also 5-star rated by SGS in terms of drop resistance.

Did we forget something? Yep, that’s pretty much all of it. Oh wait, you mean we haven’t added the details about the chipset this phone runs on? Don’t worry, we’re not the only ones who forgot. Huawei did as well. What we can only tell you is that this phone has 8GB RAM with a choice between 128 or 256GB storage.

The phone comes in two colours: Blue and Black. It also has an IR Blaster, pretty neat if you lose your remote which is quite frankly, frequent.
