Vivo Launches the V40 SE Early in Europe

This means the V40 Series Launch is imminent!

We just got the V30e in for review, right before the V40 series launches. Here’s the thing. So as long it is still being sold, even for a cheaper price, that product, be it tech or not, will always be relevant. Today, Vivo announces the V40 SE, spotted first in the European website.

The V40e’s design is reminiscent of the Y100, including the rectangular camera array. As you can see, the aura light is absent here, meaning this phone is going to be on the budget end. You can also tell this is a budget phone by its “4G” suffix.

The phone comes in two types. The Leather Purple colour uses vegan leather while Crystal Black uses plastic with the so-called “3D Crystal Texture”. The phone is IP54-rated so it can withstand some dust and splash.

The phone technically only has two cameras. The 50MP primary rear and the 8MP selfie. The top is the 2MP portrait while the bottom is an anti-flicker sensor. For your macro shots, you have to rely on its single camera. There is a high chance this phone also may be released in the Philippines under the Y-series, Vivo’s budget segment.

The phone uses the tried, yet aging chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685. The chip is essentially a more powerful version of the Snapdragon 680. Though, in terms of performance, it is not the quintessential chip dedicated for gaming, or heavy multitasking. However, it is enough to get you through your day by browsing daily on social media, messaging, and checking presentations. On the other hand, it comes with a very fast 80W charging (and 5000mAh battery), of which many flagships still use. The phone has 8GB RAM and either 128 or 256GB ROM.

The display is where vivo put time the most on this device. It’s no ordinary display. It is, in fact, a Samsung E4 AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate, a type of OLED display only typically reserved for upper-tier midrangers and flagships and it’s seeing its way down onto the budget range. Pretty neat. However, to achieve this, vivo needed to cut corners elsewhere. You can tell where they did it.

The phone is available for CZE 4,999 (~PHP 12.2K). Though, no word is heard yet for us Filipino users.
