It will have 2 million points in AnTuTu, a 100,000mAh battery, and 300W fast charging. The first for any smartphone!
There is a reason why Xiaomi reevaluated its operating system, MIUI, to HyperOS. The company mentioned that the goal of HyperOS is to simplify and unify Xiaomi’s entire ecosystem, not just for smartphones but for AIOT products and even electric vehicles. Ever since the Xiaomi 11 series’ release, the company has long dreamed of creating its own car. Though, they don’t have the capacity to do it on their own yet and ever since, they have reached out to multiple Chinese car brands for assistance. The winner is the Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. (BAIC).
Xiaomi applied for a sales license for its first vehicles in China and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has also revealed the specifications and designs for them.
Today in China, the company revealed its first-ever car which funnily enough, somehow resembles a Porsche at the back and at the front, with hints of a McLaren Senna through its headlights. This is the SU7, and its more powerful counterparts, the SU7 Pro and SU7 Max. We’re waiting for a Pro+, and Ultra variants. Even Chery weirdly names their cars this way.
Xiaomi’s new 4-door 5-seater SUV will come in two variations. One with LiDAR and one without. LiDAR is installed at the front windshield. It also comes in two drivetrains: All-Wheel Drive (AWD) or Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD). The engine is located at the front. The RWD version of the vehicle has a 220kW motor while the AWD variant is a lot faster, using a 495kW (275kW + 220kW) motor. The battery pack of this EV is supplied by BYD for the cheaper trim and CATL for the more expensive ones.
While the two cars look very similar, the difference lies under the hood (literally). The SU7 theoretically maxes out at 210km/h while the SU7 Max maxes out at 265km/h. The latter is also heavier at 2,205kg. Some versions of the car will also include an active rear wing. A type of spoiler that opens automatically. A futuristic and neat-looking feature.
The Xiaomi SU7 has the same dimensions as your everyday automobile (4997x1963x1455mm, 1440mm without LiDAR sensor). For all trims, the wheelbase is 3000mm.
The car will be available for sale starting next month. BAIC is also a minority shareholder for Mercedes-Benz, owning 10% of shares. This should partially explain its German-like design influences.
