Zeiss-powered, performance enhanced. It would be nice if it’s here though.
Vivo teased their latest camera-centric flagship, the X100, that is to be released on November 13. In the teasers, they show what the device looks like. It sports a circular camera hump like many new phones released today. It also shows off its Zeiss branding right at the middle of each lens.
There are four cameras present. But before we get to the cameras, we’d like to present what the phone offers outside of these. First, it was heavily speculated that the X100 will sport the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset which was released just a few days ago.
Second, the phone will also be equipped with a large 5,400mAh battery with at least 90W fast charging and 50W fast wireless charging.
Finally, it will feature a dedicated Image Signaling Processor (ISP) called the Vivo V3. This imaging chip is designed to handle lighting more effectively than a traditional flagship phone. The chip is calibrated to match the specifications required by the company. In fact, alongside the design, the company shows off the camera capabilities of the X100 by taking multiple pictures in the sunset which has a heavy contrast, making it a good setting to boast dynamic range. Their new photo samples also included macro shots and a portrait shot!
Going back to the cameras, the primary sensor is a 50MP Sony IMX989 with f/1.6 aperture. Aside from the Zeiss T-Star coating, the lenses are customized to be equipped with Zeiss’ VARIO TESAR lens. The X100 Pro would be using a more powerful VARIO APO SONNAR lens instead.
The two phones, the X100 and X100 Pro, are not that far apart. Possibly, the X100 Pro will be using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The cameras are the same. Aside from the primary camera, there is also a telephoto sensor and an ultrawide sensor. There is also a fourth camera which could be a 3D TOF camera for instant autofocus and accurate portrait shots.
During the sunset, it’s quite obvious there is way lower light than in direct sunlight. Phones with a weak ISP, chipset, and cameras may struggle to capture these images beautifully but the X100 uses new technologies so that each image is bright, sharp, noise-free, and most importantly, balanced.
More details will be revealed when it launches three days later.
