The Vivo Y17s Is a Typical Budget Phone with ONE MAJOR DIFFERENCE

You have to splash it with water and dust to find out.

Vivo announced a new budget phone, the Y17s. It has your typical “Vivo features” like a classy design and a price that would definitely be out of its league. However, unlike the others, the Y17s features an IP54 rating so you can be sure that a few raindrops or saw dusts won’t kill the phone.

According to Vivo Philippines, the phone is designed for the unpredictable weather that occurs daily in the country, all while having a beautiful glittery look. It is designed this way to cater the needs of the Philippines, come rain or shine.

It comes in two colours. Glitter Purple and Forest Green. The former uses a so-called “Glitter AG” texture that adds elegance. In terms of the front display, you will be greeted with a 6.56″ HD+ (1612x720px) IPS LCD with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Oh. So this is where we’re going.

Going to its internals, you’ll find a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor, an octa-core chipset (they won’t tell us what it is but thankfully, our colleagues mentions a MediaTek Helio G85 processor), and an 8MP selfie camera. The phone comes with 4GB RAM (+3GB Virtual RAM) and 128GB ROM which is expandable via a MicroSD Card.

For battery, there is a 5000mAh cell inside alongside 15W fast charging. The bare minimum to be considered fast charging.

It uses a USB-C 2.0 port, like the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm jack. It is priced at PHP 6,999 in the Philippines and is available via Vivo’s website, Lazada, TikTok Shop, Shopee, and all authorized 3rd-party retailers as well as Vivo concept stores.
