It’s a phone intended for vloggers. You know what else is?
We used to promote the Vivo V27 a lot, considering the company sent us a lot of press releases. It is a fun phone to use, especially for photos and videos thanks to its Aura Ring soft light flash. This feature is retained for newer V-series phones from now on.
Vivo launched its new V-series phone called the V29. It’s not that far off from the V27 series so if you have that phone, it’s best to keep it. In fact, the chipset of the latter is much more powerful so we’re not sure what angle Vivo is looking at here. The phone does have one significant advantage over its predecessor…
In terms of design, the phone is less curved than its predecessor. It features a colour changing back and the Aura Ring Light. It also features an IP68 resistance so you can dunk it on water for 30 minutes and wouldn’t die out. At least, this is what their press release says on the global website. The Aura Ring Light is not patented so other companies are taking their cam on and use the tecnology for their own phones.
It features a 6.72″ waterfall AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. In contrast with the Vivo V27, this phone has a much higher resolution screen at 2800x1260px, effectively using a 1.2K display instead of FullHD+.
As for the chipset, it uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset. An odd choice considering the Vivo V27 uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 which is way more powerful. It comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. There’s also a 512GB storage available. We mistakenly labelled the 512GB option as PHP 24,999 when this applies for the 256GB variant. The 12/512 option is priced at PHP 26,999.
There are three cameras again on the V29. The primary camera is a 50MP Sony IMX766 with OIS and EIS, the secondary is an 8MP Ultrawide, and the last one is a 2MP depth sensor. So technically, only two cameras are usable. The front camera is a 50MP sensor which can see right through your pores. At least, you can use it as a mirror to remove those dark circles and blemishes before you take a selfie.
It uses a 4600mAh battery with 80W fast charging. It runs Android 13 with FunTouchOS 13.1 on top. Colour options include Magic Maroon and Starry Purple. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor, 5G connectivity, Virtual RAM, and Bluetooth 5.2.
