Nothing Changed: The Nothing Phone (2) is Now Available in the Philippines via Digital Walker!

Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V. Change the chipset, call it new. Sly as always, Pei.

This is actually the Nothing Phone (1)

Today, the Nothing Phone (2) officially launched. It’s available in select countries including the Philippines via Digital Walker. That is enough teasing. They finally revealed what the new phone looks like… and it’s a Nothing Phone (1) with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and an improved primary camera. No, really. The design is a carbon copy. Nothing changed (2).

As you can see, it retained literally the exact same design as the Nothing Phone (1), including the iconic glyph light. We’re hoping to see that the Nothing Phone (3) would actually be unique. We guess if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It’s a design that stands out already, why bother changing?

Them retaining this design is actually in character for Nothing. The company caters more to better software than to actual aesthetics. Hence why you only see some changes in the hardware such as opting for a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor. The 50MP ultrawide present here is the same one as its predecessor, a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 camera. Although this ultrawide has a more advanced HDR capability. The front camera is a 32MP Sony IMX615 which has a video cap of 1080p@60fps.

As for the display, Nothing went for a flat 6.7″ LTPO OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. This means the screen would be flowing smoothly and will provide punchy colours including access to L1 Widevine content.

While yes, the design is awfully identical, there are some subtle changes. First, the back is now more rounded and the glyph interface now has 11 segmented light strips with 33 lighting zones. Still, even if you have well-trained eyes, it’s nearly impossible to tell the two apart.

Moving on to the battery, the Nothing Phone (2) features a larger 4,700mAh battery charged via a 45W USB-C port. Wireless charging remained at 15W, however. The phone also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, 5G services, Bluetooth 5.3, Hi-Res Audio, Stereo Speakers, and NothingOS 2.0 at the helm based on Android 13. The company promises 3 years of major upgrades and 4 years of security. It’s nice to see that Carl Pei still has that OnePlus blood in him. This new version would be launching a month later for Phone (1) users.

If you purchase at Digital Walker, the 12/256 variant is priced at PHP 38,990 while the 12/512 trim is priced at PHP 44,990 with Dark Grey and White as your colour options. In the US, the phone is much more affordable, at USD 599 (~PHP 33.1K). Import duties really hit them hard, huh?
