Midrangers are now evolving to have actually useful cameras. This is progress that should have been done sooner.
A few weeks ago, HONOR launched the successor to the 80 series with three functioning cameras. The HONOR 90 series is positioned somewhere in between a flagship and a luxury midrange phone, complete with aesthetically pleasing designs and colour options, and a dual front camera system for the Pro which may or may not be inspired by the iPhone 14 Pro series.
Now, the company has revealed that it is bringing the series to a much more global scale. We’re hoping to see a Philippines release too because the Honor 70 does need to pass its crown.
The phones will be unveiled in Paris on July 6th. We do not have word yet from Honor Philippines about pricing and availability.
To recall, there are two phones in the series. The flagship Honor 90 Pro and the midrange Honor 90. Their most common feature is the 200MP camera with stabilization. Although, only the Pro gets OIS and EIS. The regular variant only gets the software-based EIS.
As mentioned, the Pro variant gets a dual front camera system consisting of a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth helper. Both phones also get an excellent QuadHD+ curved AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. The phones are basically nerfed variants of the flagship Magic5 series. There are some compromises done to justify the price.
The HONOR 90 Pro in China starts at CNY 3,299 (~PHP 26.1K) and the regular HONOR 70 starts at CNY 2,499 (~PHP 19.8K). Both of these variants have 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM inside.
