ICYMI: Lenovo has released the IdeaPad Slim 3/3i, Slim 5/5i, and Slim 5 Pro

More mainstream laptops from Lenovo. Now with a slimmer body and lighter weight.

Lenovo Slim 5 Pro, 14in.

Lenovo has introduced several laptops into the Philippines. These include the Slim 3 series, Slim 5 series, and the Slim 5 Pro. Unlike smartphones, laptops can be released with a variety of different forms, specifications, and materials all under the same nameplate.

Slim 3/3i

Designed for the casual user and students, the Slim 3i comes packing with specs suited for online classes and handling simple productivity tasks. These laptops come with either an AMD Ryzen 5000 series or Intel Core 12th-generation processors both of which are low power. Buyers can choose between a 14in or 15.6in screen. The latter if they prefer having a number pad on their laptops.

It seems like today 16GB RAM is the standard option, as demand requirements increase. The laptops also come with 512GB SSD storage. Both carry an HD webcam with a privacy shutter, a fingerprint reader located beneath the power button, and the usual ports, including an SD Card reader, USB-A 3.1 Gen 1, HDMI, and an audio port. It also has a USB-C port for fast file transfers and a dedicated power port.

The Slim 5i is targeted towards more experienced consumers while the Slim 5 Pro is pretty much a literal “pro” device, as it is intended for use by professionals.

Let’s start by listing their similarities. Both of these laptops feature an aluminium design and both also feature nearly the same amount of ports, a backlit keyboard, and both also have a larger variant of their respective laptops. Although the Slim 5 Pro is only available with a 16in. FHD+ screen.

They actually have multiple differences. The Slim 5i is designed to be economical. Providing a balanced level of performance while at the same time, a great value for money. Indeed, proven by this fact is the 12th-gen Intel Core i7-1255U with an integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics processing unit inside complemented by 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB PCIe SSD storage.

It also has two USB-C ports. One of them is actually a thunderbolt 4 port that allows for very fast charging and file read and write. Like the Slim 3 series, the Slim 5i also features an HD webcam with a privacy shutter. Aside from the 15.6in. option, users also have the option to get a more compact 14-incher. The screen resolution is the same, 1920x1080px.

The sound should be loud thanks to a Dolby Atmos-powered front-facing stereo speakers installed with every Slim 5i. Lenovo did not mention the battery size but on its website, the company said that the laptop features Quick Charge 2.0 and can potentially last up to 12 hours on regular usage. It takes 3 hours to charge the laptop.

Because this laptop has a thunderbolt port, it lacks its own DC port. That USB-C port is used to charge the laptop

The Slim 5 Pro on the other hand, features a more rugged spec sheet. Lenovo is offering only the 16in. version of the laptop which comes with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a screen resolution of 2560x1440px, also known as a 2.5K display.

Inside is the AMD Ryzen 7-6800HS processor with a heavy focus on powerful performance. The laptop is designed to deal with heavy-duty tasks and multitasking. Along with the Ryzen 7 processor comes the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti dedicated graphics card. Lenovo did not mention the VRAM it has but it does come with 16GB DDR5 RAM and 1TB PCIe 4th-gen storage. This is actually the latest development of ROM and RAM. DDR4 is mainstream.

In terms of ports, it comes with 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, 2x USB-C where the other USB-C port is powered with Power Delivery 2.0 and quick charging which charges the 12-hour battery inside. There is also an HDMI port, an audio jack, and an SD Card Reader.

The laptop features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. It comes in Storm Grey and Cloud Grey colour options.

All of these laptops are available online and on Lenovo’s official stores and accredited third-party retailers. All units run Windows 11 and come with a FREE 3-year Accidental Damage protection, 3-year Premium Care Warranty, and the Microsoft Office Home and Student bundled with the laptops come with a FREE lifetime license. Others would have stayed for a 1-year license only which can cause consumers to pirate it.
