The OnePlus Nord CE 2 has launched. A cheaper alternative to the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G?

Certainly feels like one

The OnePlus Nord CE was a great phone and a great alternative to the Nord midrange lineup. It was essentially a watered-down version of the Nord. “CE” in its name stands for “Core Edition”.

The phone was previously launched in India and it finally launched here about a month later and about a week later after the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G which is its cousin. Like Realme, the OnePlus brand is owned by BBK Electronics and the two Nord CE 2 and Realme 9 Pro+ 5G share similar components.

The design of the phone is reminiscent of that of the Oppo Reno 7, another BBK brand. The display is a 6.43in. 90Hz FHD+ (2400x1080px) AMOLED screen.

It uses a Mediatek Dimensity 900, meanwhile, the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G uses a slightly upgraded variant called the Dimensity 920. Both of these processors are manufactured on a 6nm process. This Dimensity 900 chipset is paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. Unlike the flagship OnePluses, the Nord CE 2 is expandable with MicroSD storage up to 1TB.

The camera is composed of a 64mp f/1.79 with PDAF main sensor coupled with an 8mp ultrawide and the gimmicky 2mp macro. The front camera is the standard 16mp Sony IMX471 sensor.

It will launch with OxygenOS 11.1 based on Android 11 out of the box. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 4500mAh battery with 65W warp charging, stereo speakers, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and 5G services.
