Oppo Reno 7 and Reno 7Z are now available for purchase in the Philippines

According to Oppo, the phones are dedicated to content creators and as such, has features that most content creators will love and use!

Previously, we discussed the Reno 7 series and that one of them is bound to arrive in the Philippines. Yesterday, two phones were launched from Oppo. These are the creator-driven Oppo Reno 7 5G and Oppo Reno 7Z 5G.

Oppo Reno 7 5G

The Oppo Reno 7 5G is the higher-end sibling of the two. It has a 6.4in. FHD+ (2400x1080px) AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, 409ppi, 800nits peak brightness, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The AMOLED is made of a rigid composite LTPS material.

The camera design located at the back has a familiar pattern. Not surprising since it’s BBK who designed them after all. It reminds us a lot of the Realme 9 Pro. The main camera is 64mp with f/1.7 aperture and Phase Detection Autofocus. The other two cameras are the usual flavours: 8mp ultrawide with 120-degree viewing angle and the unnecessary 2mp macro. In front is a 32mp selfie camera.

Oppo has chosen the Mediatek Dimensity 900 to power this device. It is a 6nm chipset that is equivalent to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G in terms of performance. This is then paired with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. Another feature is the built-in cooling system for the long-term gamers out there, or for those simply launching Genshin Impact because we don’t want our phones exploding right in front of us.

It has a 4500mAh battery with 65W SuperVOOC fast charging and is charged via USB-C. It obviously has 5G services. The phone has an optical in-display fingerprint scanner. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. It launches with ColorOS 12 based on Android 11. And yes, the phone still has a headphone jack.

The price is also not very generous, at a whopping Php26,999. The phone’s main strengths lie in its software. For example, the phone has an improved background detection capability, EIS (both rear and front), Dual-View video, enhanced night mode, and even AI Highlight Video.

It comes in two colours. Startrails Blue and Starry Black. It is available to purchase on Shopee.

Reno 7Z 5G

The Z subseries in Reno are usually the lower-end variants. The Reno series initially started as an experimental series focusing on the higher midrange, and the successive units have soon become mundane and mediocre sidegrades to each other, eventually replacing the popular F series. The Reno 7 series is no different from that.

Going back to the Reno 7Z 5G, it has the same Rigid AMOLED panel as the higher-end sibling except the refresh rate is now down to the standard 60Hz. It has the same resolution but is slightly darker, at 600nits peak brightness. Pixel-per-inch density remains at 409ppi.

The processor used for the Reno 7Z 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, a fairly blursed processor used on other phones such as the Realme 9 Pro and Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. This is paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. The price isn’t also too good for the wallet so prepare for it.

Like the previous unit, the phone has a triple camera setup arranged almost similarly to its Realme counterpart. This includes the 64mp main shooter along with unnecessary 2mp macro and 2mp monochrome sensor. The selfie camera has also been reduced to the standard 16mp so you know this phone is fairly bare bones.

There’s a 4500mAh battery inside with 33W fast charging. For biometrics, it has an in-display fingerprint sensor and obviously carries 5G services. The phone is content creator-driven so the camera software has been tweaked to cater to that market.

It has two colours. The Rainbow Spectrum color adapts Realme’s “color shift” palette that, when faced at a particular angle, its colour changes. The other is our good friend Cosmic Black. The phone is now available on Shopee for Php19,999. We told you the price isn’t generous.

Keep an eye out though, as the phones are also readily available offline and on partner telco stores. For example, if you order the Reno 7Z 5G through Smart’s Signature Plan 999 with a one-time cashout of Php7,100, the phone will be SIM-locked to Smart and you will be able to receive 5GB worth of data, UnliNet calls worth 50 minutes, UnliText to all networks, 6 months of Apple Music subscription and even a 2-in-1 Oppo-branded speakers and earphones.

Both phones are TUV SÜD 36-month fluency A rated. Meaning your phones are guaranteed to be as fresh as the day you bought it to three years later, although that’s kind of a stretch not gonna lie.
