Xiaomi Philippines… Where the magic begins
On 23rd October, Xiaomi will be unveiling two new phones which were already released internationally. The Mi 11 Lite NE, which will compete directly against the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G and the Realme GT Master Edition, and the Mi 11T Series, which are videography-focused phones, hence the reason why their camera resembles a theater camcorder. (In a similar fashion to the Lenovo Vibe Shot, where the phone is designed to look like a point-and-shoot camera). The Mi 11T series are watered-down versions of the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro.
To recap, the Mi 11 Lite NE 5G is a slightly updated version of the regular Mi 11 Lite 5G. The main differences is that it includes colours from the 4G variant as well as an updated SD778G processor. Everything else is identical.
The Mi 11T and 11T Pro are highly identical devices, with minimal differences between them. The main differences between the two are their processors. The regular version uses a Mediatek Dimensity 1200 5G while the Pro variant uses a Snapdragon 888 processor. In a sense, they are the videographer’s counterpart to the Realme GT and the Realme GT Neo. The newly released Realme GT Neo 2 also has a similar “videocam” camera pattern design. The Pro variant also has Dolby Vision confirmed, further enhancing the viewing experience. The Pro variant also has a 12/256 configuration while the regular version does not. For sound, the Pro has stereo speakers tuned by Harman-Kardon, the regular version uses standard stereo speakers. Finally, the Pro version comes with 120W fast charging, the regular version gets 67W which is still pretty fast.
Both phones have a 6.67in. AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. As they are both AMOLED, both support HDR10+ for an enhanced dynamic range leaving you with a truly immersive and true-to-life display experience, especially after you’ve taken your video masterpiece.
For cameras, both are equipped with a triple camera setup, and it’s the typical ones found on any high midrange phone. You have your main 108mp sensor with no OIS mentioned. For something that is about taking video, is all about the cinematic experience, it’s ironic that both don’t have this feature (the regular Mi 11 and the 11 Pro have OIS). The main highlight of why this is called a “cinematic video experience” is because the Pro variant can record in UHD 8K. (Both can record 4K video which is still high-res). You also have an 8mp ultrawide and a 5mp telemacro camera. It would have been nicer if they replaced the macro camera for an actual telephoto since this is all about the cameras after all. With this setup in mind, the tagline feels more like a gimmick.
The selfie camera on both devices has a 16mp resolution. It can record up to FHD (1080p) video at 30fps.
Fret not though, the software tells a different story. Xiaomi has implemented numerous cinema modes/filters to help with the mood of your film. This along with night mode. In terms of battery capacity, both have a fairly large 5000mAh battery.
For biometrics, you have facial recognition and the side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Both phones don’t have a headphone jack. For connectivity, both support NFC, has IR ports to control numerous appliances, Bluetooth 5.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi.
We will just have to see the configurations and pricing for all three phones (if both the Mi 11T and 11T Pro are going to be released that is). So tune in on 23rd October for pricing details!
