Motorola Philippines teases the Motorola Edge 20 series

It means, the top tier Motorola phones are coming soon!

After a series of mediocre budget phone releases, Motorola is once again coming back for bigger guns. We have been waiting for their Motorola Edge since forever, because we believe that Motorola has a potential to compete with the usual contemporary brands if they release the right phones at the right price. One of those potential candidates is the Motorola Edge 20 series.

The phones were teased four days ago on Motorola’s Facebook. Internationally, the Motorola Edge 20 series was launched last July.

There are four phones in the series: the regular Motorola Edge, the Lite, the Fusion and the Pro. Three of the four phones may get a release here. All but the Fusion.

To recall, the Motorola Edge 20 has similar specs to the Realme GT Master Edition but even better, having a 6.7in. OLED screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection (but 144Hz refresh rate instead of 120Hz), a Snapdragon 778G processor, a truly useful triple camera setup: a 108mp main camera, an 8mp telephoto with 3x optical zoom and OIS and a 16mp ultrawide camera with 119° FoV.

For endurance, the phone uses a typical 4000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. This amount of juice should last for a day on regular usage. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC support and a lack of the 3.5mm audio port.

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro, if the Motorola Edge 20 already sounds impressive on paper, then the Pro is surely more impressive, right? This phone also comes with the same 6.7in. FHD+ OLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate as the regular variant, but uses the more upgraded CG Glass 5.

The cameras are also similar, but replaces the regular telephoto camera with a periscope camera. The phone has a 108mp main sensor, an 8mp periscope with 5x optical zoom and OIS as well as a 16mp ultrawide. It can record in 8K unlike the vanilla and the Lite variants.

This phone also uses a flagship processor, the Snapdragon 870 5G. For endurance, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro has a larger battery, capping at 4500mAh but retains the 30W fast charging. The phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC support and a lack of the 3.5mm port.

The Motorola Edge 20 Lite is the more budget-oriented device, although despite the name, it still has an impressive spec sheet. It’s not necessarily a budget device and is still in-line with the Edge 20 by being a luxury midranger. First of all, it retained the 6.7in OLED panel that the other two have, but with a reduced 90Hz refresh rate (which is still not bad, as it will still scroll faster than other phones of the same type).

The phone uses a Mediatek Dimensity 720 processor which is equivalent to the Snapdragon 750G, so it’s not as fast (on paper) as the Snapdragon 778G, but is still very competitive.

The phone also retained the 108mp camera as its sister phones but this comes with a compromise: the main camera is paired with just an 8mp ultrawide and a useless 2mp depth.

All three phones come with the same 32mp selfie sensor on a dot notch. Like the vanilla variant, this phone can record in 4K and supports gyro-EIS for steady video.

For endurance, the Edge 20 Lite has the largest battery, coming with a 5000mAh battery and even the same 30W fast charging, so there’s no compromise on the battery. What’s truly great about this one is that this is the only phone that kept the headphone jack, so definitely a plus move there. In fact, among the three, this is the most practical and most functional, without having you to spend unnecessarily for dongles and powerbanks. Like the other two, the Edge 20 Lite has support for NFC.

Since Motorola Philippines have teased the phones, we are more than excited to see it released here. Unfortunately the phones may not arrive on time for the 10-10 sales on Lazada and Shopee, so patience is key!
