The successor to the popular Tecno Camon 16 has been announced, and this time, with Chris Evans as brand ambassador.
Tecno first announced the device in Kenya. Seen from the summary above, the Pro edition has a 6.8in. IPS LCD display at 90Hz refresh rate, a quad 64mp camera setup, three of which are auxiliaries, there is also a 48mp selfie camera and the device is powered by a Mediatek Helio G95 processor (no 5G here). For the battery, it has a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging.
There is also a non-pro version which is available for purchase in Masoko. This one comes with a 6.6in. HD+ IPS LCD Dot Display also with 90Hz refresh rate.
For the camera, there is a triple camera system, one of which is a 48mp Samsung S5KGM1ST03 sensor and two auxiliaries, which are a 2mp depth and macro sensor. The front camera only has a 16mp sensor, also from Samsung.
Also, despite being in 2021 already, Camon still stuck with a MicroUSB port instead of USB-C. There is also a 3.5mm jack on the phone.
The Camon 17 Pro is branded as “the clearest selfie camera” in reference to its massive 48mp sensor. As mentioned earlier, you can get the regular Camon 17 in Kenya for 22,279 shillings (approx. 10K php) for the 6/128 version in Masoko. There is also a 4/128 option which costs for 18,899 shillings (~8.5K php). The Pro version is yet to be priced and announced.
